Zoo York Clothing – The Facts

Although its history dates as far back as the 1970s, it was not until the 1990s that the name Zoo York Clothing clearly took the fashion shelves by storm. Given that the founders of the design were mainly from the sporting fraternity, it was not surprising that most of their original designs were mainly out door outfits that appeal to sports personalities and other informal sector personalities such as musicians, disc jockeys, and skateboarders among others.

With the above named groups being the main players interested in this design, it was not long before the brand became a street tag since it mostly appealed to the youth and celebrities, a factor that made its publicity obvious. Zoo York did not need much publicity to concur the fashion industry. unlike in some instances where celebrities are used to give a product publicity, Zoo York Clothing as a brand resonated with the celebrities and most sports personalities and entertainers making it an easy product to publicize. The rest of the masses automatically followed suite making Zoo York a force to recon with both in America where the design was born, and to the rest of the world.

As of now, the brand has gained prominence all over the world grabbing a very sizable chunk of the market share in international skate wear. The company uses sporting fairs such as skateboarding to increase the brand’s popularity mainly because a group of graffiti artists and skateboarders pioneered the brand. They called themselves the “Soul Artists of Zoo York.” It was out of these artistes’ efforts at branding the streets of New York that they discovered the need for a stronger identity leading Rodney Smith and Bruno Musso to begin shut skateboards; this was back in 1986.

Their vision of keeping the spirit of graffiti and skateboarding alive thus gave birth to the first official company in the northeast scene with a team of unique skate boarders. With the end of shut skateboards in 1991, Rodney teamed up with designer Eli Morgan and came up with the Zoo York brand. Adam Schatz who helped in tacking care of the financial maters later joined them. Since then the company has seen growth at a very commendable rate.

ZY designs all sorts of body outfits from foot wear all the way to the head-wear. Their collections include shoes, trousers, tops coats, jackets, caps, socks and all other outfits for both males and females.
